Discover the Périgord
Exceptional Prehistoric and historic heritage
Périgord is an exceptional destination for tourism, where you will find breath-taking scenery to inspire you, refined cuisine to impress you, history to enrich you and much more! Venture out in any direction and you’ll discover all the wonderful things the region has in store for you:
- Hundreds of castles from different periods of history (medieval, Renaissance, Classical Period), dozens of which can be visited: Castelnaud, Beynac, Milandes, Fénelon, Biron, Lanquais…
- Bergerac wines, which rank among the finest in France – Pécharmant and Monbazillac being two of the most famous
- Prehistorical sites – les Eyzies, Lascaux, Proumessac, Padirac
- Renowed gastronomy which includes black truffles, foie gras, sautéed potatoes, walnut pies… to name just a few!
My cottage in the Périgord is located about 30 minutes from all major sites!
Wine lovers must follow the Route des Vins de Bergerac (20 minutes) and discover its fabulous tastings.
Destination (very) greedy
Renowned for its gastronomy, the gastronomy is "traditional".
It reflects a lifestyle. Hard not to be tempted by the famous foie gras, truffles of Perigord, Perigord nuts or Bergerac wines whose names are best known Pécharmant and Monbazillac ...
Duck confit with potatoes sarladaises, cooked with goose fat, is the signature dish of the region, authentic, finely cooked and rich in taste ...
Périgord cuisine still holds many treasures to wriggle your taste buds ...
